Academic Background

Ph.D.in Agricultural Economics. Worked as senior research fellow in socio-economic studies at International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in Jordan and Lebanon, the head of Social Studies Department in Syrian Scientific Research Center and editorial Member of the Syrian electronic journal of GCSAR, livelihood and food security coordinator at Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC)/Syria, socio-economic expert at Action Against Hunger (ACF) and The Arab Center for the Studies of Arid zones and Dry lands (ACSAD)/Syria, and women empowerment expert at UNHCR/Syria. Has received national and international awards by: Open Society Foundation OSF/US, L'Oréal-UNESCO , The League of Arab States, Arab Women Organization the Syrian Scientific Research center and Ministry of Agriculture.

Research Interests

Has been focusing on rural livelihoods and gender. This includes, food security, gender & woman empowerment, home economics, evaluation development projects, poverty alleviation, and micro finance.
Since the war in Syria, has been researching ways of women empowerment and improving the livelihoods of affected families (internal displaced and refugees), especially women headed families, through enhancing capacities building, finding work opportunities and support children and youth to educate.

Publications include:

(The Role of Women in Home Economics) book is considered the first Syrian scientific reference in home economics and it was selected as a best Arabic book about women by the League of Arab States, Arab Women Organization.
