Join Frideswide Voices

The girls' choir of Christ Church, Frideswide Voices, is open to girls of all backgrounds, from any school. Girl choristers at Christ Church do not attend the Cathedral School, but instead come to the Cathedral twice a week at the end of the school day. Girls need not be resident in the city of Oxford (indeed, some former choristers have travelled quite some distance to take part) but families should be aware that choristership is a signficant commitment and will involve regular travel into Oxford several times a week.

Girls join the Choir as pre-probationers (trainees) at the start of Year 3. We are always interested in hearing from potential choristers when they are in Year 2 with a view to membership from September of Year 3; families should aim to express an interest by late-February of Year 2. Occasional vacancies do occur for older girls; interested families or teachers should contact the Frideswide Voices Administrator at the earliest opportunity for details of these, or to be placed on a waiting list.

Parents, prospective choristers, and music teachers are warmly invited to attend a taster evening ('Be a Chorister for an Evening') - these are held each Spring.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in early 2020, this year's Be a Chorister evenings were cancelled. Instead we will be holding virtual taster sessions online as follows:

10th June - 4.40pm

24th June - 4.40pm

Auditions will follow in early July.

For all details regarding joining Frideswide Voices, please contact the FV Administrator: frideswide.voices@chch.ox.ac.uk

It is our intention, at this stage, to admit a standard cohort of five pre-probationers (Year 3s) to the Choir in September 2020.
