1. Imaging Services and Photography
A. Reproduction Rights
Photographs of Christ Church Library materials are supplied for private research and study only, and in all cases Christ Church retains the copyright and any Publication Right in the photographs. If you wish to reproduce a photograph in any form, you will need to apply for permission, and a fee will usually be payable. Permission is not granted automatically, and applications must be made before the material has been published.
To apply for permission to reproduce images readers need to download and print a copy of the appropriate form from supplied on the website and return it to us by email attachment or post. Readers need to credit copyright to the Governing Body of Christ Church, Oxford.
B. Ordering photographs
Professional scans and photographs of special collections can be ordered from the library imaging services. For preservation reasons, readers are not allowed to take their own photographs of manuscripts or rare books. To order photographs of materials held at Christ Church Library readers need to contact the library staff in charge of imaging:

Readers need to observe copyright restrictions and to complete the relevant permission to use forms. The library reserves the right to refuse to supply photographs for any reason.

2. Photography in the Upper Library
Visitors are welcome to use stills cameras in the Upper Library. General shots of the room are permitted for non-commercial, personal use only, providing they do not use flash, protruding lenses, tripods or other specialist equipment.
Photography and video of books or of items on display in exhibitions is not allowed. The Library's collections are subject to copyright and publication restrictions. In taking images, visitors take full responsibility for all copyright and other legal obligations relating to them.
