He was born in Wolverhampton in 1910 to Albert Abbott, C.B.E., M.A. and his wife Nancy nee Hargreaves. He had an older sister. His father was an Inspector of Schools.
In 1911, the family were living at 130, Tettenhall Road, Wolverhampton.
He was educated at Westminster and Matriculated in 1927. He graduated from Christ Church in 1931. He was a solicitor from 1934, practising in both London and Burton-upon-Trent.
He visited Madeira with his sister in 1931, arriving back at Southampton on September 24th on the Windsor Castle. They gave their address as 3, Templars Rise, Golders Green. She was employed as a Matron & he was a student.
In the summer of 1939, he married in Hitchin, Hertfordshire Eleanor Dorothy Nicolls. They had a son born in Repton, in 1940.
He joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and was a Flying Officer when he died in Cambridge on May 20th 1944 of illness contracted whilst serving with the RAF on service overseas. His wife was living in Ickleton, Cambridgeshire.
He is buried in the churchyard of St. George’s, Sampford Brett, Somerset where his parents were living.
