Financial Assistance FAQs

Who should I contact about financial assistance?

Applications for financial assistance should be sent to the Academic Office. If you are unsure about which fund you should apply to, please contact the Academic Office.

I am confused about the different funds available – how will I know which fund to apply to?

The Academic Office will send out an email at the start of each term with details about the different funds that are available and who is eligible to apply to each of these. The application forms and guidance notes for each fund will be attached to this email. Please read the information carefully.

If you have any questions, please contact the Academic Office.

I feel uncomfortable disclosing information about my finances. Do I have to provide supporting evidence?

Yes. In order for your application to be considered, we require supporting evidence to be provided. This enables us to assess your eligibility for support and the level of grant or loan that can be made. Please be assured that your information will be kept confidential. See here for the College’s privacy policy.

Please do contact the Academic Office if you have concerns. We are very happy to talk to you about the process in more detail and answer any specific questions that you have.

Will I be assessed for funding from the College or the University?

The College has financial assistance funds to support students in hardship and is also able to support eligible applications to the University’s dedicated funding streams. We will provide more details in the financial assistance email that we send to students at the start of each term. In the meantime, if you have questions about this, please contact the Academic Office.

I have submitted an application – what happens next?

Applications for financial assistance are considered on a case-by-case basis. The Academic Office will check that your form has been filled out correctly, and that you have submitted the required supporting evidence. We may need to ask you for further information. The Academic Registrar will then assess your application, and decide whether or not an award can be recommended from College financial assistance funds, or (depending on which fund you apply to) if your application can be submitted to the University for consideration.

Can I apply for financial assistance more than once?

Yes. Please check the Blue Book, Financial Assistance pages on the website, and email reminders sent by the Academic Office for details of grants and bursaries for which you might be eligible to apply.
