Andrew Chamblin, an old member of Christ Church (1991), died suddenly and unexpectedly in 2006 at the very early age of 36.
Given Andrew's own accomplishments as an organist and great appreciation of organ music, friends and relatives of Andrew have joined together to commemorate his memory by forming the Andrew Chamblin Memorial Concert Fund. The intention is to fund an annual organ concert to be given in Christ Church Cathedral.
The inaugural Andrew Chamblin Memorial Concert took place in Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford on Thursday 10th May 2007 and was given by the internationally renowned organist Thomas Trotter FRCO. Mr Trotter played a number of organ pieces by Mozart, Handel and Bach. Since then numerous internationally renowned organists have played, including Simon Preston, Jennifer Bate, Dame Gillian Weir, David Briggs, Susan Landale, Nicolas Kynaston, Terence Charlston, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Stephen Cleobury, Laurence Cummings, John Butt, and David Titterington.
