Christ Church is delighted to be hosting a Geography Taster Day on Friday 21 February 2020.
What are we offering?
The day will include an introduction to Geography at Oxford, a taster lecture in Physical Geography, as well as several interactive academic workshops in Human Geography. The participants will have a chance to meet students who study Geography at Oxford, have lunch in the Christ Church Hall, and go on a tour of the college. The event will be free of charge and lunch will be provided.
Here is a provisional timetable for the day:
10 – 10.30 Arrival at Christ Church and registration
10.30 – 11 Welcome and Introduction to Geography at Oxford
11 – 11.30 Taster lecture in Physical Geography
11.30 – 12 Human Geography: academic workshop 1
12 – 1 Lunch
1 – 1.45 College tour
1.45 – 2.15 Human Geography: academic workshop 2
2.15 – 2.45 Human Geography: academic workshop 3
2.45 – 3.15 Q&A session with current students
3.15 – 4 Discussion and summary of the day
4 – 4.15 Closing remarks and evaluation
Who is the event it for?
We welcome applications from Year-12 students who are considering applying to study Geography at Oxford. We will be prioritising applications from students who attend state-maintained schools in the UK. Students may attend unaccompanied if 16 or over.
